Lobster is a delicacy that most every seafood lovers can’t get enough of. Have you ever smoked lobster on your pellet grill? Learn how to smoke lobster tails on your pellet grill with our easy to follow recipe. This is a new taste that will save you tons of money. How will it save you money? Well… let’s just say you will never have to order lobster at an expensive restaurant because it just won’t compare to what you can make on your pellet Grill.
This is our favorite lobster recipe, but experiment and find out what is best for you. As long as you have butter and garlic you should be just fine!
Pellet Grilled Smoked Lobster Tails
2 lobster tails, 8 to 10 ounces each
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 stick of butter
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Get ready for the toughest part of this recipe, preparing the lobster tails! We have to admit we struggle with this process. We’re sure it’s like anything else, it just takes practice.

Prepare the lobster by cutting down the middle of the tough shell toward the tail with kitchen shears.
Using your fingers, gently pry the meat from the shell, keeping it attached at the base of the tail. Lift the meat so it is resting on top of the split shell (again, keeping it attached at the base of the tail). Make a slit down the middle of the meat to butterfly it open on top.
Next Start your pellet grill on smoke with the lid open for 4-5 minutes. After the fire is started close the lid.
While the grill is heating up. Mix everything in the ingredients besides the lobster tails in a sauce pan till it starts to boil. Spoon some of the mixture over your lobster tails.
Place your lobster tails right on the grill and smoke for 45 minutes to an hour. Seafood takes on smoke easier than pork or beef. Plus that smoked paprika will give it a nice smokey flavor as well.
After the lobster has smoked turn your grill on high and spoon some more mixture over and cook for another 5 minutes.
You want your lobsters internal temperature to be about 140° F. (Check out more seafood temperatures.) This will make sure it’s done to the USDA temperature standard, but not too chewy or tough. The best way to check the temperature is with a quick and easy instant read thermometer like the ThermoWorks Thermapen Mk4 or for a cheaper model the RT600C. These are must have tools when cooking!
After your lobster tails are done remove from your grill and place on a plate. Spoon more mixture over the lobster tail meat and enjoy!
